About Austria

Austria is a mountainous country in Central Europe. It has a total area of 83,871 square kilometres. As a landlocked country Austria shares national borders with Germany and Czech Republik to the north, Hungary and Slovakia to the east, Italy to the south and the principality of Liechtenstein and Switzerland to the west.

While the northern parts of Austria are fairly flat, much of the rest is mountainous in nature. In fact, the beautiful Austrian Alps cover a whopping 62% of the country. The highest peak among all these mountains is the Grossglockner, sitting at an impressive 3,798 meters.
